FAQ
Are home visits available?
As a general rule no. However, in certain circumstances Taylor Osteopathy will provide home visits for those in need. There may be an additional charge.
Can I bring a friend or relative?
Yes, osteopaths are happy for you to be accompanied by another adult during all or part of your treatment if it makes you feel more comfortable. Children should always be accompanied by a parent or guardian throughout treatment.
Does it hurt?
Some soft tissue treatment may cause discomfort during treatment. Your osteopath will tell you what to expect, and will want you to let them know if you are in pain. You may feel a little sore after treatment. This is a normal, healthy response to treatment.
How long do treatments usually last?
Your first appointment will last between 45 minutes and 1 hour. Any subsequent visits will last approximately 30 minutes. Your first appointment is usually longer to allow for a full case history to be taken.
How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments you will need depends on the condition and the person that we are treating. We aim to keep your appointments to a minimum. Your osteopath will be able to tell you within a short period of time whether they can treat you or need to refer you to someone else.
What should I wear?
As with any medical examination, you will be asked to to expose the area of discomfort so that it may be assessed and treated. Occasionally, this means that you may be asked to undress to your underwear. So please wear something that you are comfortable in. If you have any concerns with this, then please contact me beforehand so alternative arrangements can be made.
Do I need a GP referral to see an osteopath?
No – you can make an appointment without a GP referral. Osteopaths are primary healthcare practitioners; however, if you have been referred by your GP we’ll also communicate findings with them if needed. You can book directly with us at either our Kettering or Corby clinic – no referral needed.
How much does a session cost?
Our fees vary depending on the appointment type. We always discuss costs upfront so you know what to expect. To get our current price list or book an appointment, please contact us or visit the Fees section of our website.
Do you have clinics in both Kettering and Corby?
We operate from a single clinic in Kettering (School Lane). Although we no longer have a separate Corby location, we continue to serve patients from Corby and surrounding areas – our Kettering practice is just a short distance away.
